Pellerano & Herrera presented on May 10th the P&H Alumni Circle during a ceremony in which it awarded attorneys Leonel Melo Guerrero, Luis Henry Molina and Elizabeth Mena in the Private Practice, Government and Corporate Counsel categories, respectively.

During the inauguration event, which took place in the auditorium of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre & Maestra, one of the Dominican Republic’s most prestigious universities, Ricardo Pellerano, managing partner of Pellerano & Herrera, gave a speech on leadership and talent management, in the framework of the 65th anniversary of the leading Dominican law firm.

"Our greatest merit, if any, has been to discover, develop and retain the best legal talent in the Dominican Republic, to accompany us in the exciting adventure we undertook more than six decades ago, from a modest house in the Colonial Zone in the distant date of 1952 ", emphasized Ricardo Pellerano.

The P&H Alumni Circle is made up by a group of over 400 Pellerano & Herrera alumni, who now lead their own law firms, head the legal departments of prestigious corporations or public sector entities, work full time in teaching or work in the Dominican judiciary system.

Leonel Melo Guerrero, President of the law firm OMG, was awarded in the Private Practice category for his outstanding career as the founder of one of the most modern law offices in the country and for his contribution in aiding his corporate clients to achieve their business and strategic goals. Before founding OMG, Melo Guerrero worked at Pellerano & Herrera.

Luis Henry Molina, executive director of the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), was awarded in the Judiciary or Public Sector category, for his outstanding work as the first executive director of the National School of the Judiciary, Vice-Minister of the Presidency and as the current official responsible for promoting the country's foreign trade. Molina began his professional career in Pellerano & Herrera, from where he left to lead the National School of the Judiciary.

Elizabeth Mena, legal director of minimg company, Corporación Minera Dominicana, received recognition in the Corporate Counsel category for her contribution as head of the legal department of said company and her outstanding professional career. Mena worked in Pellerano & Herrera and high-profile real estate tourism projects in Punta Cana before joining the mining industry.

The P&H Alumni Circle is a creative space to generate opportunities for collaboration between the law firm and its alumni. "The P&H Alumni Circle is an opportunity to help, together, to make the Dominican Republic a better country to live and invest," emphasized Ricardo Pellerano.

The first awards to the alumni was introduced by Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, partner of the firm, who explained the award categories, and the nomination and award criteria taken into consideration by the jury, composed of the Board of Directors of Pellerano & Herrera.

Mejía Ortiz, also presented a brief profile of the Dominican architect and ceramist Carlos Despradel, who designed and made the sculptural piece that was given to the winning lawyers as a symbol of their recognition.
