MOPC Launches International Tender for Supervision of the New Santo Domingo Bascule Bridge
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has launched an International Public Tender for the hiring of a consulting firm that will be responsible for the comprehensive formulation and supervision of the design, construction, assembly, and commissioning process of the new Santo Domingo Bascule Bridge, a strategic project intended to replace the existing floating bridge over the Ozama River.
This project constitutes a key initiative to strengthen connectivity between the National District and Santo Domingo East through modern infrastructure that will improve vehicular mobility and facilitate river traffic, in compliance with applicable national and international technical standards.
The base budget for the consulting services amounts to DOP 288.9 million (approximately USD 5.0 million), while the estimated investment for the construction of the bascule bridge exceeds DOP 4.5 billion (approximately USD 77.6 million), positioning this project among the most significant infrastructure initiatives currently underway in the country.
The consultancy will cover a comprehensive scope, including the review of technical specifications, technical support during the pre-construction stages, supervision of the construction process, and validation of the bridge’s commissioning. This includes oversight of its civil, electromechanical, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components, as well as the redevelopment of the project’s surrounding area.
The estimated term for the execution of the consulting and supervision services will be twenty-four (24) months from the date of award notification, in coordination with the execution schedule of the main works.
